How can we not feel overloaded with the amount of online dating platforms? In the past, when trying out online dating apps, I was left with a mixture of emotions…shame (after being asked countless times why a girl like me was online), frustration (after shallow connections or immediate ask for hookups); excitement, and overwhelmed (by the number of men asking for dating).

Not only can one experience the potential stigma of using an online platform, it can be hard to decide which platform is the best for you, and what you are looking for.

Let me beg the question- if not the apps: how does one meet new singles interested in a relationship? In Dr. Henry Cloud’s book, How to Get a Date Worth Keeping, he asks readers to make notes for several weeks, tracking how many new eligible potentials they interact with weekly.
He outlines the guidelines of:

  1.  They are new to you
  2. They have enough interaction with you to want to go out with you
  3. You have enough information about each other to follow through on your desire.

He uses this formula to get a date:

New people  + Interest + Ability to follow through = A date

After several weeks of tracking, he encourages readers to analyze the data, and log the reasons for the number of potentials, and then personally own the reasons for lack of potential.
