Mom Guilt: Confessions of a Therapist – Part 1

Mom guilt. We’ve all heard that expression. And if you’re a mother, you know all too deeply how that feels!

Motherhood is a wonderfully, beautiful, challenging thing. But as a culture, we have stripped motherhood of both its joy and human-ness, filling it with guilt and shame.

Over these next few months, I will be writing a series of blogs highlighting areas of motherhood that evoke that sense of mom guilt. I will be using examples from my own life to reflect upon and “out” some of the lies that our culture tells us (or we tell ourselves!) as mothers.

I hope that you will find this series challenging and identifiable. And that, as mothers, we can feel more encouraged in our mission of mothering, instead of being weighed down by the constant nagging of guilt.
