As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Kim DeRamus Lareau received her Master in Arts in Professional Counseling in 2011. Prior to attending Richmont Graduate University, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia. She is an EMDR therapy trained clinician and a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor.

Kim specializes in clinical issues related to trauma, sexual abuse, self-esteem, co-dependency, relationship difficulties, infertility, grief & loss, stress management, faith-based issues, boundaries, anxiety, college students, and athletes.

Kim started her counseling career working with college students at UGA’s Counseling & Psychiatric Center. From there she spent several years working in private practice and residential programs for traumatized and sexually abused women in Atlanta. In 2014, Kim assisted in opening the first Georgia satellite location of Formation Counseling Services.

Further, Kim partners with anti sex-trafficking organizations and the FCA to provide specialized trainings, counseling, and support. Kim pairs her passion for fitness and her involvement in competitive sports to partner with FCA in Atlanta to provide trainings for staff and counseling services for students and interns. She has worked with athletes related to performance anxiety, emotional development, end of sport transitions, and team interactions.

Kim works with clients from many different backgrounds and has specific training in integrating faith into her counseling process. Kim’s goal, through counseling, is to provide a safe environment for individuals to understand their true identities and thrive in their current life situations. She considers it a unique privilege to walk beside individuals through their process of finding wholeness and identity again.

Kim’s counseling style reflects the truth that effective counseling is rooted in the relationship and trust established between therapist and client. Valuing this unique and special relationship allows her to work collaboratively with each of her clients as she hears their concerns and aids them in reaching their goals.

Since entering the counseling profession, she has worked to bring both a passion for and commitment to professional excellence to the therapy room. When Kim is not in the counseling room she enjoys being outside, traveling, health and fitness, reading, writing, and connecting with friends.

Kim is licensed in Georgia and Florida.
