Is Your Child Stressed? Part 1

(This is the first in a 4 part series…)

Any parent can tell you that they get stressed by their children. Whether it is taking them to practice, recital, games, daycare, or school; every parent is familiar with their own stress.  However, have you ever taken the time to recognize that your child might be stressed too?    This blog Series will help you recognize the signs of your child’s stress and some practical solutions to this stress.   Today we will focus on Recognizing the Stress Symptoms in your child.

Childhood Stress Symptoms:

  • Physical- Headaches, vomiting, stomach aches, wetting
  • Emotional- fear, irritability, sadness
  • Behavioral- crying, nervous tics, losing temper
  • Interactions with Others- withdrawing, teasing and bullying, shyness

Your child may not show all of these signs, but noticing a few of these signs can be a great help to begin managing their stress.

Can anyone add any stressors that your child might display? What category do they fit into? Physical, Emotional, Behavioral, or Interactions with Others?
