Zero-Sum Game?

In economic theory, the concept of a zero-sum game refers to the balance that occurs when one’s losses(think sacrifice) are exactly matched by their gains (think successes). I find myself often talking with clients who are operating under the assumption that life is a zero-sum game. I suppose for some people it can be; nearly equal agreements can be between partners or roommates about doing the dishes or taking out the trash.

However, what I’ve realized is that I don’t know any visionaries or world changers who operate under the delusion that balance and fairness are going to be part of their world. People who are trying to change the world (or at least their part of the world) and implement their ideas embrace the expectation that giving and sacrificing for the cause are going to be the mainstay in life. They are ultra-givers, ultra-investors, and ultra-workers.

When we are crazy passionate about seeing an idea or solution come to life….
