Technology & Connection Tip #3: Texting Throughout the Day

This week, we are offering some tips for developing your connection with loved ones, coworkers, and friends without over-using smart phones, internet, and other technological aides.

We recognize internet connection is a vital aspect of conducting business, staying up-to-date with family members who love across the country from you, and helpful with productivity.  This blog series does not have a goal of disconnecting you from technology; however, by being purposeful with your use of the internet, you and your loved ones can have a greater sense of connection.

TODAY’S TIP:

Limit texting your partner and friends during the day.

How many times do you tell your partner and friends about your day as it happens? Often, we text our friends and family in moments of frustration and excitement. However, it is much easier on everyone’s emotions to discuss the sum of the day, rather than a play by play as your day happens. It is easy to become sensitive when someone wants a reaction during the middle of a story or situation (especially difficult situations); however, by controlling our emotions until we have a full story, we can have a better grasp of the full situation and possible outcomes.
