Ways to Encourage Conversation About Race with Your Children

There is so much going on in the world right now and there are a lot of conversations being had regarding racial injustice and inequality. Some of these discussions are centered around trying to figure out what people can do to support the movement and be a facilitator of change.

One thing I know for sure is that parents have the ability to be one of the biggest facilitators of change.

Our future is our children and they model what they see adults in their lives do. The conversations had around them and the actions taken in their presence are influential in how they will speak and act as they grow.

For this reason, I wanted to give some resources to parents who are looking to support the movement and impact our future through the next generation.

Kids Play Tricks” has created a list of diverse toys to raise compassionate children.

As I’ve shared before, toy and play are a child’s words and language. Kids Play Tricks said it best with, “children learn about the world through play, toys, and books. The materials we provide should be relatable, but should also allow our children to learn about others’ lives and cultures.”
